the journey of Gavard sparkling wine takes us back to the early 19th century, when the nobility of imperial Russia discovered the potential of the Moldovan vineyards, their ideal geographical and climatic particularities. The second half of the 19th century saw on intensive planting of newly introduced French varietals such as Pino Ari Guilty and Cabinet sauvignon. Then, in 18 57 Auguste Bouvard, an artist and wine maker from France, was employed by the Russian nobility to oversee the production of wine in the Moldovan vineyards.
