Description
The track is a compilation of two pieces; the first, an excerpt from a track I recorded for an Indian Classical dance (Odissi) performance by students of Srimati Daksha Mashruwala, noted ex-student of the doyen of Odissi the late Sri Kelucharan Mahapatra. The piece is part of a recitation of one of Rabindranath Tagore's poems titled 'Shyamali' that depicts one of three quintessential female lovers as imagined by the poet laureate. The second piece is a recording of my recitation for an Odissi stage performance on Tagore's poem 'Pujarini' based on a Buddhist legend.
