According to World Health Organization, tuberculosis is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide. And in 2020 alone, an estimated 10 million people fell ill with tuberculosis. Today marks the day when we raise awareness about the preventable and treatable contagious bacterial infection that primarily affects the lungs. TB can be prevented through a combination of different measures. Firstly, vaccination, the well-known BC G vaccine can provide protection against TB. It is typically given to infants in areas where TB is common. Secondly, early detection and treatment TB can be cured with antibiotics, but early detection is important to prevent the spread of the disease. Anyone with symptoms of TB, such as coughing fever and night sweats should seek immediate medical attention. Thirdly, infection control measures against tuberculosis TB is spread through the air when infected individuals cough, sneeze or talk. Infection control measures such as wearing masks, proper ventilation and good hygiene practices can help reduce the spread of TB. Another way we can prevent TB is through screening and treatment of high risk individuals, high risk groups such as health care workers, people living with HIV, and those with weakened immune systems should be screened for TB regularly and treated if necessary. Lastly, education and awareness educating individuals about the risks of TB and how to prevent its spread can help reduce the incidence of the disease. Finally, by raising awareness and working together, we can end the TB epidemic once and for all, let us continue to take action and ensure that no one is left behind in the fight against TB A.
