Good afternoon. I'm Tory Gates. With this Froggy Valley update from the WB newsroom. Police in Lancaster have announced charges against a man who was wounded in a shooting earlier this week, Angel Torres was shot in the 200 block of West King Street on Tuesday and was hospitalized. Torres who is 20 faces a felony firearms charge and possession with intent to deliver marijuana. A second suspect is still being sought. The State Senate majority leader says he expects his Republican colleagues will want other items stripped from the unpacks budget if Governor Josh Shapiro uses his line item veto on school vouchers. Senator Joe Pittman told KDK a radio in Pittsburgh that the general appropriations bills include provisions. The chamber agreed to because of the voucher program which is designed to help low income students attend private schools. Neither chamber is set to return to Harrisburg until mid September. President Biden was in Philadelphia on Thursday to discuss his economic plans. The president toured the Philly shipyard where ***** workers are building a vessel that will be used to install and maintain offshore wind turbines. Workers in nine different unions will start building a vessel called Acadia it's going to place heavy rocks at the base of the offshore wind project. The project is part of the administration's continued push into the US, manufacturing and clean energy sectors. He said 1000 workers across nine labor unions will work on the project. The president also announced the first offshore wind lea sale in the Gulf of Mexico. Thousands of marines and two amphibious warships are deploying to the Middle East to counter threats by Iran. The Pentagon announced the moves Thursday after Iran threatened commerce in and out of the Persian Gulf. This comes a few days after the US sent warships and fighters to the Middle East to deter Iranian forces from interfering with merchant shipping. The US currently has three destroyers in the area.
