owls don't have eyeballs. Instead, they have long I tubes that are fixed in place. This is why they have to turn their heads all the way around to see these I tubes act almost like telescopes, enhancing their vision at long distances. However, they can't see very well up close. In fact, they use their beaks and feet to feel around their immediate surroundings.
