Not everyone experiences cities the same way daily activities are easy for some and a struggle for others. The gap between those with access to basic services and those without creates daily burdens and disparities that echo for generations. This is the urban services divide over one billion people globally, and two in three of all urban residents in low income countries are underserved for them. Water may be available only a few hours a week, and access to jobs requires arduous and unsafe journeys. The results are costly, time consuming self provision and unhealthy polluting practices. The cumulative human, social and environmental cost of the urban services divide impacts everyone closing. It benefits us all.
