This year, 6.5 million people packed over 500 different music festivals around the UK and half of those vans were young people for most, it's a rite of passage and the highlight of their summer. But for an unlucky few, their dream weekend can turn into a nightmare. But there's help at hand. At the first aid tent. We're following the young medics working in pop up field hospitals at some of the nation's biggest music festivals working around the clock, helping casualties in the clinic or stranded in a crowd. These unsung heroes care for festival goers in need from bee stings to broken legs, drinking drugs to dodgy burger. Many of these tireless medics are student paramedics and medical assistants who sought their studies for scrubs each weekend and know what it's like on both sides of the first aid tent. Today. The festival medics are in Portsmouth for the first day of the Victorious Festival with a crowd of 65,000 expected to see tonight's headline as Kasabian. The pop up field hospital is ready to receive its first patient when a report comes in of a casualty in the front of the main stage today. The festival medics are at Victoria Festival in Portsmouth. Over the course of three days, a crowd of 65,000 will flock to see headliners Kasabian Kaiser Chiefs and more with the patient already at the field hospital receiving treatment. Oliver has to make his way back to the base but having to fight their way through the hyped crowds isn't the only kind of unwanted attention that the medics have to contend with. Back at the field hospital. A patient has arrived with a nasty sting. It's early evening are victorious and while the buzz builds ahead of the headline acts, the medics are preparing for the biggest crowd of casualties of the day. After collapsing in a crowd. A patient has regained consciousness and is being checked over in the clinic. Thankfully, it's nothing serious and the patient is given a clean bill of health but not all casualties. The medics treat are quite as lucky. It's not just treating injured revelers in the crowd or in the clinic being a festival. Medic means tending to people wherever they're in need. It's 11 o'clock and the Victorious Festival is coming to a close for another year.
