Hello and welcome to a guy with books podcast. My name is Don and as you know, I'm that guy and up also your host. Before you begin, I just wanted to take a moment and thank you. I want to thank you for being a listener. And since our valentine's Day episode, so many of you have reached out to me and Our audience is now in over 27 countries and that includes of course all of the United States, all of Canada. But now we're into the United Kingdom, Australia, Turkey France, Switzerland. So thank you, you are a blessing and I love you. Yeah. And so let me grab a little bit of warm tea today because it's it's a bit crisp outside. Thanks to the Northeaster. Okay. Oh that's good. This morning I'm enjoying a leaf from America's heritage. It's a specialty called congo. It's a black tea and it's a T from southern china and here's why I love it. A lot of you know that you know on the show we like to talk about history and this tea was actually part of the boston tea party. 15 chess of Congo T. were destroyed during the tea party. And you know this tea is is grown in china and and the actual name congo uh is it refers to a tea made with high mastery or careful skill and oh on these cold days it's it's really delicious because it's kind of like a a warm unsweetened baked apple. Not really smoky but it's kind of smooth and sweet and really hits the spot in these early mornings when it's six or 7° out here in central Pennsylvania and we have ice everywhere. And um it's very crisp and you could just sit here and listen to the train whistle come through town and you know they're hearing the train whistle. You know, I'm often reminded of places I would love to travel to and explore, and I would really love to go to the homelands where one of my favorite poets, Robert Burns was born and raised. And that's really who we're going to talk about today. We're going to spend some time talking about robert Burns, some interesting facts, his life, his family. But before we do for those of you who are new to the show and well, I guess I should point out this t that I'm enjoying here. Um if you want to get some yourself, I'll put a link up in the bio, but it's from Oliver plus in company from charleston. And you can go to their website at Oliver puff dot com. And I'm telling you they focus on and they spend time creating teeth from history, mostly the colonial american era. And so you have to check them out. But we're gonna talk about robert Burns today. But before we do just want to introduce myself to the new listeners to the podcast. And again, thank you. I'm a business executive, I'm a husband and a father and I enjoy things like art and history and I love to paint watercolor. Uh listen to a variety of music, but I really enjoy cello a lot. And my family, you know, we enjoy when we get time to watch tv classical movies, you know like turner classic movies and I like to collect old things. I guess I'm an old soul and so I collect and I think it might get on my my wife's nerves a little bit. I collect noisy Edison phonographs, you know the ones with like the loud gold horn and all the wax cylinders. I think I must have like 80 or 90 wax cylinders including Roosevelt's speech uh, which is pretty famous for farmers and businessmen and you know, I love the smell of old books. I have a lot of them and I talk about them a lot Mostly from the 1800s. But I also have a bookstore on instagram, which I'll share with you later. And then I also collect things like old creepy tin types. You know the old photographs From the 1800s as well as old cameras. And so I told you about my warm tea from Oliver puff and I want you to go grab a hot beverage and of course mine, I'll grab my smoking pipe here with a little bit of cherry to paco. We'll get that led up here and let's talk about robert Burns with some interesting facts, enjoy.
