The first Transform Africa Summit, held on the 28th to the 31st of October 2013, common ated in the adoption of the Smart Africa Manifesto document by seven African heads of state Wander Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Molly, Gabon and Burkina Fasso. In the manifesto they committed to provide leadership in accelerating Africa's social economic development through i CT and with that smart Africa was born. The Smart Africa Lions has since grown to include 24 African countries that represent over 600 million people. Currently, their lines is a partnership bringing together all African countries air dearing to the manifesto represented by public institutions, governments and the private sector. Over 30 private sector members and international partners work with governments in achieving our mission off transforming Africa into a single digital market. The five strong pillars off the manifesto, our policy access e government, private sector entrepreneurship and sustainable development. These are supported by the four solid enablers, innovation, communication and advocacy, capacity building and resource mobilisation. Together, the pillars and enablers allow the Smart Africa Alliance to put in place the right environment to encourage partnerships, entrepreneurship, job creation and knowledge sharing. But the future is now collectively and with smart Africa leading the effort, we have critical projects in the pipeline, such as the One African Network for Affordable Voice and Data, roaming rates and education for all. Equipping and connecting primary schools with electronic devices, broadband connectivity along key infrastructure connecting hospitals, ports, airports and other public areas. The Smart Africa Scholarship Fund promoting meritocracy and gender equality. So where we going? The vision of smart Africa is to transform Africa into a single digital market. That means you defined the entire continent into one market, off 1.2 billion people through continental free trade digitising our skills, opening our skies and ensuring intra Africa connectivity on Lee.
