Jesus Christ demands that the heart of the disciple be fathomless pure. And unless he can give me his disposition, his teaching is merely tantalizing. If all he came to do was to mock me by telling me what I know I can never be, I can afford to ignore him. But if he can give me his own disposition of holiness, then I begin to see how I can lay my account with purity. What do you mean by pure and heart? We mean nothing less and nothing else than what the Son of God was and is when God raises us up into heavenly places, he imparts to us the very purity that is Jesus Christ. That is what the sanctified life means. The undisturbed rage of his peace, the unshakable power of his strength and the unfathomable crystalline purity of his holiness. There is plenty of room in the heavenly places to grow into the realization of the unfathomable depths of the purity of Christ's heart.
