I produced this project for the Rho Rho Chapter of Sigma Chi International Fraternity. I was asked to tell the history from the viewpoint of the founding fathers of Sigma Chi, all of whom were soldiers during the U.S. Civil War.

Dear sirs and brothers. I transmit here with a petition from 15 students of the University of Maine for charter. I am thoroughly acquainted with these young gentlemen. Four of them, as you will see from the role are officers of the cadet battalion. They are young gentlemen of excellent character, good habits, good standing in their classes of good reputation among the fellow students and in every way, well worthy to have their petition. Granted, this is an opportunity which should not be neglected. Nothing should be permitted to stand in the way of the establishment of the fraternity in a university that has risen to be ranked among the first in New England. I am satisfied that the fraternity cannot do any better in this university and that the university is well worthy of the establishment of this chapter.
