They aim to cultivate a safe, nonjudgmental and hopeful space in which young people become open to learning new skills, gaining self awareness and reaching goals while clinicians, maybe experts, they may not be the most influential or effective communicators. Educators and supporters of young people, however, clinicians may be effective partners in practice when recognizing the power of young adult peer mentors in engaging and supporting young people as they progress toward their goals.
