Now that we've built our own managed active directory service on AWS, we'll go ahead and launch an E C two instance running Windows Server and join it to our active directory domain. The nice thing about doing this with Easy to is that the system supports automatically joining that domain when you launch the instance. So to get started here in the EEC to console, I'm gonna click on the launch instance Button. I'm going to scroll down on the list here on Step One and choose Windows Server 2012 are to base as my operating system, and now I'll go ahead and select the T two dot micro instance type under the free tier. And then we get to Step three on the launch wizard here. This is the place where I specified the directory. So for the option to domain joined the directory, I'll hit the drop down and I'll select example dot com. This is my directory instance that we created previously, and the other thing I need to do is give this instance permissions to join to a directory, and the way that we do that is through an I am role with the permissions to call the simple systems manager or the S S M a p I. So, of course, this is something that I haven't created yet. So what I'll do is head over to the I am console on the left hand side. I'll go to roles, then I'm going to create a new role for this, and I'll call this S s M access. And under AWS service roles, you want to scroll all the way to the bottom and then you can see Amazon E C to roll for simple systems Manager, this is the one you want to select. As you can see, there's just one policy the Amazon E C to roll for S S M. So we'll select that and click on next step and then I'll finally create the role.
