Seconds later, the arrow lifted into the air and flew off into the distance. He was proud to have been able to assist Detective sales. Maybe she'd even put in a good word to the captain about him while fantasizing about a promotion, a radio attached to his belt came to life. This is Officer Martin to rooftop. A voice crackled. Come in. The young man took the radio off his belt and hit the button to speak. Go ahead, Officer Martin. He said, did anyone just access the roof? Asked Officer Martin, I repeat, did anyone just access the roof? Only detective sales in her transport, sir. The young man responded, son of a *****. Officer Martin. Boom through the speaker, forcing the unknown officer to take the radio away from his ear. You let him get away? I don't understand, sir. Responded. The confused officer. Detective Sales is right here in front of me unconscious from a tranquilizer interrupted Officer Martin. That was weird. Oh, said the young man pretty sure that he wouldn't be getting that promotion. After all, Sam slowly came back to consciousness and realized he was in the arrow. He turned his head to see Erica behind the wheel and felt safe for a brief moment. The more alert he became though, the more he sensed something wasn't quite right. His suspicions were confirmed when Erica looked at him with an unnatural smirking expression on her face that he'd never seen before. Hey, there, sleepyhead. She said at that moment, Sam's gradual uneasiness shifted into full blown distress. You're not Erica. He said he grabbed the door handle and tried in vain to open it. Let me out of here. You're wasting your energy. Besides, do you know how long of a drop it would be from here? If you jumped out, you'd be flattened like a pancake. After a quick transformation. Thomas was at the wheel there. That's better. I tell you, it's a strange thing taking on someone else's appearance and characteristics. I can't even imagine the psychological impact, an ability like that would have on someone less stable, less stable than you. Sam blurted out immediately wishing he hadn't and I feel like our first meeting was cut regrettably short. Thomas said dismissively. I wanted to talk to you again trying to get you to see my point of view. So you figured kidnapping me would make me more agreeable. I'm not kidnapping you, Sam, I'm trying to free you. You're insane. An ouch that hurt Thomas dug into his pocket and retrieved a handheld dispenser that looked like pepper spray to Sam. He looked at it admiringly incredible, isn't it? What is that? Sam asked? Fearfully. This, my friend is a condensed version of the tranquilizer that knocked you and our dear Eric unconscious. You see, sometimes it's more feasible for the ill equipped nursing staff to spray it in an individual's face rather than shut down the whole floor. Then way, only one person feels the brunt of the government's incompetent mental health program. The truth is you weren't supposed to wake up just yet. He aimed the spray at Sam. Don't worry. No, wait objected. Sam. It won't hear Thomas said and then shot the mist into his face, knocking him out again. Back at the central center for mind rebalancing. Erica was finally coming around after Officer Martin debriefed her on how their young and easily fooled comrade had mistakenly let Thomas escape with Sam. She attempted to contact Thomas on her arrows, communication system as expected. He didn't respond. However, according to the vehicle's tracking system, they were somewhere in New Axel's warehouse district. Erika left shortly after that with Officer Martin in his arrow. When they arrived in the part of the city where hers had been detected, they found an abandon on a warehouse rooftop with no sign of either Thomas or Sam. Erica was determined to spend however long it took to search the entire vicinity. She felt like she'd failed Sam yet again and would do whatever was necessary to find him. Sam woke up tied to a metal chair in an empty room, fluorescent light shone down on him.
