Years ago, I picked up a simple concept, referred to as little things and began integrating this basic construct into each and every practice. This involved at least 15 minute period during every practice, when and where each position concentrated and worked on a little thing. For example, running backs practiced a variety of handoff, strip pitch, fumble or toss drills. We tried to change it up every day, but nonetheless each and every practice each position worked on a different skill or little thing for defense of linemen. We may have them working on, not jumping offsides by implementing a hard count drill. We never wanted to give up an easy first down because we jumped offsides on a hard count during situations when the offense was trying to sucker us into jumping on 1/4 and short situation
