88 a half miles is a family comedy about 13 year old Elliott whose holiday plans are ruined when he is sent to spend his summer break living with his 88 a half year old grandma jo in the humdrum town of Mount laurel, New Jersey with no friends or internet connection at grandma, jo's, Elliot miserably resigns to two whole months spent watching black and white movies on TCM, one of the few Tv channels his grandma receives and being lectured about how lazy and spoiled kids are these days. The only thing that Elliot and his grandma jo can bond over is their shared adoration for the classic film star Marian Cavendish, whose movies they begin to tune into nightly. One day, Elliot spots an opportunity that could quell his summertime sadness and make the dog days spent in Mount laurel all worthwhile, a family festival happening in new york city that Marian cavendish will be attending. The only problem is that Elliot can't board a greyhound bus to the city without an adult passenger accompanying him. So he reluctantly invites his grandma joe to join him. But when their bus breaks down, Elliot and joe must take matters into their own hands by embarking on an unexpectedly elaborate 88 a half mile trek by foot car subway and speedboat encountering a number of roadblocks on their mad dash to make it into the Lincoln center in time for the movie screening and cabin. This is red carpet appearance Over the course of their joint journey, Ellie and joe begin to realize they each underestimated one another and that what they saw as their comrades limitations may actually be their greatest strengths.
