The Origin of Peppa Pig

Peppa Pig was created by Astley Baker Davies, an independent animation studio in London owned by co-creators and producers Neville Astley, Mark Baker and Phil Davies.

The show first aired on May 31, 2004. Astley and Baker sought to create an animated series for children with clear and concise storylines with beginnings, middles and endings. They wanted a main character who was a girl but different from the typical portrayals of princesses and ballerinas; thus, they created Peppa, a confident, bright and cheeky four-year-old pig.

The creators understood that children enjoy laughing at their parents, which led to the incorporation of Mummy and Daddy Pig for safe jokes. Using animal characters with human characteristics allowed the show to escape the real world and create a comical and cheerful worldview.

The Peppa Pig series has been broadcast in over 180 countries.

These talented voice actors have contributed significantly to Peppa Pig‘s success and global appeal, bringing joy to children and families worldwide.
