This is our sixth post in the ‘Voice Of’ Series, and the third profiling a voice over talent on the Voices platform.

We recently spoke with Gina Scarpa, a talented voice actress based out of Connecticut.

Scarpa is the voice of the popular Burger King Crypto commercials.

Gina Scarpa is a full-time female voice actor whose career began in radio back in 1998. After spending nearly a decade on Connecticut and New York radio stations, including KC101, WPLR, Radio 104, and K104, she went on to become the Editor-In-Chief at RealityWanted and hosted a podcast interviewing television personalities from every major network. She is also an award-winning teacher and director, receiving the 2019 ACE Educator Of The Year award in Connecticut.

Gina has been providing professional voiceover services to clients across the country and around the world since 2014. Her happy clients include Xfinity, Google, Invesco, L’Oreal, IKEA, VSP, Cisco, Salesforce, and more.

Here’s our quick Q&A with Gina:

1. Beyond the two campaigns you linked, what are the brands your voice is behind?

I have had the pleasure of voicing with many well-known brands including: Xfinity, Burger King, L’Oreal, IKEA, Pfizer, Frito Lay, Apartment Therapy, Benjamin Moore, Facebook/Meta, the Portland Trail Blazers, and more.

2. What brand/campaign would you love to be the voice of some day?

My top goal is to voice video game characters with Riot and Blizzard, my two favorite game companies. I’m a hugely passionate gamer. I’m also starting to make my way into promos and would love to work with Disney+, MTV, Food Network, and NBC/Bravo to name a few.

3. Are there certain brand spokespeople/voices that you emulate or use for inspiration?

Some of my voice inspirations are: Mara Junot, Shelby Young, and Laura Bailey. They’re all absolutely incredible.

4. What have been some of your favorite brand voice campaigns?

My favorite brand campaign has been as the voice of Xfinity Rewards. What started out as one national commercial ended up turning into seven so far and it has been so fun to work on the different promotions like the 2022 Olympics or the release of Jurassic World: Dominion. I got to work with some fantastic people on the creative side, and always look forward to my sessions!

5. What trends are you seeing in the industry this year and into 2023?

The trend of being very real, down-to-earth, and conversational continues to dominate the commercial audition specs. Casting Directors don’t want people who sound like actors or like they’re acting, but more off-the-cuff and talking off the top of your head. Video games also continue to introduce very real, grounded characters even if they exist in a fantasy world. Bringing true emotion to your performance is key, and finding ways to make characters your own.
