About Us
HAPO Community Credit Union is definitely not a bank. We are a proud credit union that puts our members first. Our primary focus is to offer products and services that continually bring value to our members; banking solutions that are easy and convenient combined with the best value.
We are often asked what "HAPO" stands for. HAPO is an acronym for Hanford Atomic Products Operations. We are a credit union that was formed by a group of non-exempt workers at the Hanford nuclear site in 1953 to provide a place to save and borrow money. Members of the credit union are the owners, which means that profits are returned to our member-owners in the form of better loan rates, free or lower cost services, and higher dividends. Today, HAPO continues to prosper and provide financial services to over 140,000 members within Washington State, Umatilla and Morrow Counties in Oregon State.
