Client:

UpStart Financial

Voice Age:

Adult

Gender:

Male or Female

Job description:

UpStart Financial is a financial institution dedicated solely to helping entrepreneurs grow their businesses. We help startups around the world with capital, financing and advisory services, specializing in small to medium size businesses. Due to the recent growth of the bank, we’ve updated our sales training to better equip our new sales staff with more effective training and techniques. We’ve created some training videos that will need an engaging voice to maintain the attention of our young and energetic staff.
UpStart Financial typically hires sales staff with an entrepreneurial background to be able to best relate to our clients.
Our motto: “Startup? UpStart.”

Art Direction:

We need a female or male voice who sounds like they’re in their early 30s. They’re seasoned, maybe they’ve run their own business but still understand the lingo thrown around today. They can tow-the-line between expert and friend.
They have a disarming girl/guy-next-door quality to their voice that is warm and pulls in the learner. They also have some character and personality to their voice, adding life to what needs to be engaging training material.
The project is for internal sales training videos. The voice actor must be the engine that carries the material. If our learners tune out, they’re not going to be able to understand how to sell and talk the ‘UpStart way.’
A sense of humor and conversational tone is also important.

Welcome back everyone. In this next segment, we’re going to be looking at the evolution of our selling methodology. Like we said before, UpStart’s target demographic is millennials, and how they want to be sold to is unlike any generation before them.

In fact, many of you may be millennials, or be just like millennials yourselves – and that’s why you’re a good fit for this job. You’re the kind of consumer who is checking online reviews, looking at a company’s Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat, and really buying into a company’s branding and ethos before you’re ‘sold.’

That’s why UpStart preaches a relationship-focused sales strategy. We will equip you with the time, resources and backup to build strong, authentic relationships with potential clients, instead of pushing a product at all costs.

It’s integral that our clients have a real, normal human first interaction with our sales staff, where we simply tell them what we’re offering, and educate them on the state of the startup scene in their market. It’s absolutely vital that you don’t rush the first date at UpStart. Interested clients have seen our Instagram ads, they get it. We want to make them feel like they’re having a link up with a buddy in a coffee shop.

Remember that notebook and pen that came in your welcome kit backpack? Now’s the time to take them out because we’re going to do a really awesome, interactive personality assessment.

You’re actually going to find an open table or bean bag chair in the forum with the person beside you and quiz them.

First, grab one of the personality assessment sheets from your facilitator. Once you find where you’re hanging out, ask away from the questions provided on the sheet. You and your partner will conduct the assessment on each other. Once you have the answers, you both will log each other’s assessment into the link we provided to you. Once you get the results, chat it out with your partner and compare each other’s strengths and differences.

This will help you understand what makes your teammates tick!

We’ll see you back here in an hour.

Okay, now we need to dive into what it looks like to start our ‘slow-trickle’ of products to the potential client.

Once that trust is formed, then we can start a slow passing along of custom reports, data and recommendations that are tailored to the potential client, always ensuring they’re are being educated and equipped with new info along the way.

We want to give the savvy entrepreneurs that are looking to bank with us so much insight, that they can’t see how they’d take on this venture without us.

Alright, hopefully that breakout session was helpful for you to understand how important it is to be an active listener.

Now, we’re going to hop right into a video from Chad Emery on how simplifying his life led to a record-breaking month of sales for his Pacific Northwest startup.
