If school isn’t for learning anymore, then what is it for? It is a question that has been hotly debated in recent months, and the exponential development of the internet has been the greatest contributing factor to this dilemma. Education is changing, has changed dynamically in the past decade. We live in a world where anyone with an internet connection can dial in and obtain applicable information on subjects ranging from home surgery to building a nuclear bomb. The traditional teacher, in the traditional classroom is swiftly becoming obsolete, but for those who have the foresight, educators don’t have to be eliminated completely.

Internet information must have a source, and the innovative educator can become that source. The reasons for turning to internet classes are numerous; the most commonly cited being work and family obligations, or transportation difficulties. There is a genuine market for internet teachers for those who are willing to put forth the time and effort required to develop an online curriculum. The mindset the there is no market, or that the internet only caters to “niche” teachers is only the first stumbling block that you must overcome in order to revolutionize your entire career.
