I'm Christina Pickles. In 1919 William Andrews Clark, very rich and eccentric philanthropist, singlehandedly founded and sustained Ellie's first permanent orchestra. But for its 1st 15 years, the orchestra relied on Clark alone. The first orchestra performance took place in October 1919 almost 84 years to the day of the opening of Walt Disney Concert Hall.
