For more than 200 years, our view of physics was dominated by Sir Isaac Newton, described as a natural philosopher, buys contemporaries and formed the foundations of classical mechanics. Einstein's theories of special relativity and general relativity revolutionised the understanding of gravitation on the way that it interacted with the other forces.
