Description

SmartTalk, hosted by radio broadcast newcomer Tom Harvey, is a five minute commentary designed to charge the intellect of its listeners regarding current events. Tom wants to encourage his listeners to engage in healthy dialogue with friends, family, co-workers and even fellow church members on subject matter which affects us as individuals, our communities and the world at large.

He delivers his topic of the day against a cool, yet classy, music bed which helps attract his targeted audience of professionals, blue collar workers and students ages 20 and older. “There is so much we can learn from each other if we occasionally exchange the trend of texting and emailing for some good wholesome and face to face conversation.”

Tom resides in Pittsburgh, PA with wife, Sharlonda. He’s the father of one daughter, Paris who is a pre med student at the University of Texas. His twenty plus years of management experience working for fortune 500 companies, spans the course of four different industries including transportation, telecommunications, public utilities and banking. Tom is also a minister at his local church and enjoys community work and travel when time permits. He wants to do his part in reviving the dying art of dialogue and discussion.

“Putting the “cool” back into conversation” is what SmartTalk is all about. The show is unique in that its objective is to spark conversation rather than have its listeners subscribe to one’s personal ideals and values.

SmartTalk premiers in the Greater Pittsburgh market in August 2009, airing on WGBN AM 1150, the station that is the choice for urban programming. Tom is looking for opportunities to expand his listening audience across the country, encouraging all to enhance their understanding and appreciation for the various views and values which exist in this great “melting pot” we call America. How do we do this—we engage in smart talk!
