Welcome to this podcast. Today I want to talk to you about Shakespeare's romantic comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream. Many scholars believe Fido's inspired by The Knight's tale from sources The Canterbury Tales and written around 15 94 to 15 96. It portrays the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors. Since A Midsummer Night's Dream was first performed, it has been full of spectacle, music, dancing and fairies. Comedy moves in dreamlike sequences as if on the brink of eternal bliss. Players structured like many comedies around family tensions with friction between father and daughter, husband and wife. In many ways, it has all the elements of a TV sitcom, albeit a fantastical one. At the end of the play, usually through marriage, discord is resolved. So to quote another of the bars epics, all's well that ends well. Thanks for listening and see an X ray
