in the spring of 2021 the Crocs school hosted its first annual career expo featuring 19 change making professionals. Students were virtually able to interact and network with leaders from fields ranging from environmental justice, social entrepreneurship, conflict resolution and this signature event enables students to create real relationships in the peacebuilding community with participants involved for organizations such as the United Nations and more. The career expo allows students a valuable time to network, gain advice and create real dialogue around internships and other future premier opportunities. I had a really wonderful time today, connecting with some alumni as well who were, you know, sort of giving recommendations for some classes or you know, other avenues to supplement what we're doing in the craft program. And each room offered me something valuable in two respects to my journey now, I want to craft my personal rebounding skills and what do I want to seek out of life. As graduation passed the job, I built some connections with people in one of the rooms and that that was a value that I'm gonna be able to connect with them over linkedin um and network with them further in order to, you know, help build my career. We really talked about how the organization, the organization can really kind of move from perf formative to actual restorative and transformational um justice in terms of creating spaces that are talking through issues that are really important, but it's not doing it at a surface level. It's really going deep into that and to those conversations and really kind of understanding the causes of a lot of social justice issues and diversity and inclusion issues within working space is I had a chance to talk to some folks in the environmental justice fields who shared their emails with me, share their stories of how they got to where they are. And it was just a great reminder of taking the time to build relationships, even in a virtual world, still makes a difference. And what was most valuable those experiences was the openness, the open mindedness. You know, no one really, no one really uh you know, judged you for what you wanted to do in your career path. It was always open, like even if it didn't really fit their mindset of their whoever was hosting the table, they still were eager to help pair that exact passion with how they've had their experiences using a lens of restorative justice can kind of create spaces and conversations that are addressing a lot of conflict may be in the working the working place in a different way and a different perspective that can lead to again, that transformational change and understanding and learning and growing the inaugural career expo, opened the door to endless opportunities for the students at the school will afford seeing what are change makers do next
