many speakers failed to attach enough importance. The variety of intensity talking with a couple of friends in the living room is one thing. But speaking to 30 people in a room 50 ft long is quite another. The same level is not suitable for both of these situations. A good speaker sizes up the situation and varies his intensity accordingly. He also varies his level from time to time during his beach. Some of his ideas are more important than the others, and for these he increases the intensity to make them more prominent. In doing so, he gives a variety to his speech, but the variety is linked to his meaning, as it should.
