the hotline is a place where employees can anonymously report workplace concerns. These are their stories now. I don't do gossip, but I do like to talk about other people's business behind their back kidding. But the next time you think you want to gossip, remember the story of talkative Tomas. So Tomas, one of our assistant, VP's, and Jacinda, a manager in the same division, are down at the bar. They're sitting on a couple of barstools, having a few cocktails and unwinding. At some point, they start grumbling about what a mess things are at work, Justin says. They're department is consistently behind schedule on there, always receiving complaints from other departments. Customers and clients are upset on. She has a bunch of issues with her boss. She's like the bloke is completely outmatched. It doesn't have a plan to fix things and were dropping kinds like flies, which, if you're not into bug metaphors and really, who is it just means that they're losing business. Tomas is on bothered, Even smiling, he dealt. Jacinda, sit tight. Things are about to get better. Tomas test Tracinda that her boss of the let go very soon on that they are in the process of hiring away an executive from one of their biggest competitors. As soon as the paperwork is finalized, there will be an official announcement. Now Thomas and Jacinda don't note at the time. But at the very moment on, employees from our rival company happened to be ordering a drink at the bar right next to them and overhears this interesting news after just one beer. He knows that his competitors having major problems, the names of some unhappy customers on that his company might lose one of their key leaders. So the next day, this industrious, beer drinking spy, you know what? You can't even call it spying. He was just there, and all this confidential information was flying around and stopping him in the face. Anyway, The next day, our secret listener starts reaching out to a few. These disgruntled customers. He diagnosis. Their exact problem offers up his team services, all the wives sliding in some information, all about the internal turmoil with our company. He also gets in front of his leadership team and shares what he's learned that his company's about to lose one of their key leaders. They in turn approach. The executive, about to leave with a counter offer on the executive, decides to stay put. In the meantime, Jacinda remember her when business is still bad and she's feeling nervous and aside, supposed to screen shot of her resume on her social media accounts that says anyone hiring hashtag new boss coming, not the smartest move on her part. Why? Because this gets noticed by some co workers were like, What's going on on the next thing you know, there's chaos and confusion. Here's the problem. Tomas is idle. Talk was revealing confidential private information and even sharing with a co worker who's not supposed to know could be a problem. Because that kind of information always spreads. You really never know who's listing in when you're in public spaces. Whether that's bars, cafs, airports, trains, parties or even the elevators, lobbies and bathrooms at your own workplace. Look, you don't need to take a vow of silence or troll your phone in the ocean. You just need to remember a few things first, Be careful where and with whom you share nonpublic information. Don't let the cat out to the bag on. In this metaphor, the cat is confidential. Information on the bag is your company. Second, just pause before you post. Just take a second. You really don't need to share every thought that goes through your mind. I know that makes me sound old, but take a breath instead. Try this. Write in your diary in code and then burn it. You know what? When I feel the urge to gossip, you know what I do? I just drink Rosie all day and watch reality TV shows. I'm not proud, but it works.
