I can tell you definitively that the worst thing that you can do is try to battle mental illness, depression or prolonged sadness alone. It is not a Christian virtue to suffer in solitude. I know that sometimes there are things that we have done that cause us to want to retreat into isolation. Shame is a powerful force that will pull you into a dark place away from help.
