Chapter two. Are you okay? The voice came from Donovan as Amy stood in the bathroom taking a few breaths. I'm fine. She whispered, quit fussing. They spoken low tones not wanting to wake Amy's mother Flora who was asleep upstairs. It was gone two AM and she and Donovan had just finished a grueling Sunday night shift. The case they were investigating was taking its toll between them. They had come up with a plethora of leads when it came to their killers. Two things stood out. Firstly, they were a couple. Secondly, they were sadistic putting their victims through unspeakable ordeals. Their campaign of violence was escalating. I thought morning sickness was supposed to stop. After three months. Donovan said softly from the other side of the door. It is Amy replied, washing her hands but lucky me, I get five whole months of feeling like I'm about to throw up. They say it's a sign of a strong pregnancy must be quite a fighter in there. A smile carried in Donovan's voice. Once he'd recovered from the initial shock, he'd been thrilled at the prospect of becoming a father again. Amy wasn't sure how she felt about that after getting to grips with finding herself pregnant, she had no clear sense of direction about how she was going to cope. So far, all she'd done was to get her hair cut into a wavy shoulder length style and brought some stretchy close to accommodate her expanding waistline. Then she carried on hoping she would come to love the baby inside her. Had she been born into a normal family? Her pregnancy might not have been such an issue but her bloodlines made her turn cold. Her parents were serial killers. Would her baby inherit their genes? She imagined its little face, black hair with piercing blue eyes, the eyes of her grandmother Lillian or were still jack crimes. What if it was born a psychopath if its brain was wired? Wrong chapter three demo watched Lucy stomp around the cottage unable to contain her anger. He could almost hear her ticking. She was an unexploded bomb. The air was stifling as they packed up their things with all the windows and doors sealed. They've been breathing in their own stale air tobacco fumes and sweat. ****. Lucy screamed. You shouldn't have given us so much time. It's no fun if they don't stand a chance, no risk, no reward demo grabbed her around the waist. It will be okay. Lucy planted both hands on her boyfriend's chest and pushed him hard. You're going soft. That's what it is. You fell for her sob story about her kid. That's why he waited so long to hunt her down. Her red talents flashed as she raised her finger in the air. Fury streaked across her face. Whereas I would have planted an arrow in them both. She was screaming at a pitch that was making demos ears ring his jaw clenched. He wasn't being spoken to like this, don't you ******* push me demo? Grabbed a fistful of her blonde hair. Are you forgetting who you're talking to? Another piercing scream filled the air. Okay. Let me go. But as soon as he did, she drew back her hand and slapped his face. Chapter 17, Sally Ann wanted to see the best in her sister. But Paddy had a feeling there was more to it than that. He was about to ask about Amy's earlier wobble. When Donovan spoke up, Amy's pregnant, he blurted she's five months gone feck off. It was all paddy could think to say yet it made sense. Her odd behavior, the doctor's appointments and Donovan's protectiveness. Sally Ann laughed in disbelief. She's not pregnant. No way. You're barking up the wrong tree there. Amy doesn't want kids and she's suddenly now five months, I don't know the reason she's been out sick a lot and she has put on a few pounds, come to think of it. I've not seen her with a drink in her hand for months. She's in denial. Donovan heaved a sigh. Amy will kill me for breaking the news. But I can't keep it to myself. Not now, Sally Ann stared at the wall, her face ashen, her voice low. She can't be. She would have said sorry. Donovan slipped a hand into the inside pocket of his suit. She was planning on telling you soon he handed over the print out of a scan. We're having a little boy tears welled in Sally Ann's eyes as she took in the grainy image. He's sucking his thumb. She sniffed, touching the outline of the baby's face. I can't believe it. That's why she wouldn't just disappear. Donovan turned to Paddy who was resting a hand on Sally Ann's shoulder. She knows I'd be out of my mind with worry. I just thought she was under the weather. Paddy replied as he came to terms with the news.
