It will forever be remembered as a day of infamy. Without warning, Japan's bombers rained down terror on a Sunday morning in Hawaii lasting just two hours. Their attack on Pearl Harbor would bring the United States into World War Two, transforming America's destiny as a world power based on eyewitness accounts. This is a dramatized reconstruction of events as they happened on a day that shook the world. It is December the 7th 1941 Antarctica, the continent of the penguin, busy little a delis state. The emperors and their close relative, the King Penguin summer is already given way to the long winter nights. The first storms of autumn are a warning Penguins head for the warmer north Everest, the highest and one of the most dangerous mountains on the planet since it was first climbed in 1953. It's both fascinated and killed many of those who try to summit its lofty peak into this deadly arena. Step five British army soldiers wounded on the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq with Arctic temperatures, hurricane force winds, deadly avalanches. It is considered by many to be the ultimate challenge. Their dream to climb all 8848 m to the summit of the world. These 10 young doctors were chosen to be our surgeons of the future. They have just one year to progress from novices to performing their own operations as final exams loom the trainees need as much operating experience as possible with just weeks to go. Every operation is the chance to give them an competitive edge for some. It won't be enough. Not all of our trainees will make it to the final cut.
