This is master talks a podcast about stories of inspiration and insights. In this episode, Jessica, a master student of marketing communications at the University of Melbourne talks about how she pursues her dreams and make it happen. This is her story. That's right. Hi there, I'm Jessica from Indonesia. I'm a master student at the University of Melbourne, majoring in marketing communications. I am now in my second year. Well, I know, I know it's not easy to decide what you want to do next. After graduating from the under produced study, been there, felt bad. I was at that stage two when I got my bachelor's degree in marketing and Business, I was started to think about my future and life goals and I was so nervous about deciding my next life choice But to get a master's degree before 25 and get a job in the marketing field in the international advances. The company have always been my goals in life. So I decided to dig on the information about the master's degree in marketing. Since I want to pursue my passion in marketing, I was gathering all the information from my seniors friends and my lectures in the previous, unique. After long research and discussion with my parents, I set my decision to continue my study at the University of Melbourne. There were actually um three points that convinced me to choose the email or University of Melbourne. Alright, the first one was the reputation and the quality of the unique Since you develop is right, number 32 globally and they also have the exciting masters program in marketing communications that includes the internship opportunity program and the last one which was my parents concern was the distance between Indonesia and Australia is actually not that far after everything figured and settled. I knew it was my time to go to pursue my dreams. So here I am enjoying every second and every chance that I can get in Melbourne to be closer with my dreams. What can I say? I love every subject that they have here in email and I've been learning and get the new insights for marketing both theoretically and practically even though I can admit that sometimes I can feel an innermost pressure, especially when we have a lot of deadlines and exams but I think it's normal. Who doesn't feel the pressure when you're a student anyway. I learned how to manage the stress by making my own deadline for every assignment Besides all of the lecture and tutors are very supportive. They always guide students in every problem and challenge that we might have in completing their assignments and exams. I'd like to spend my time at the keeping library to do my assignments or just study and read some materials. The libraries are super cozy and good opinion to study since they have some quiet spaces if the weather was great. I love to have some quality time with my friends. Just sit and relax in the cellphone park while having snacks or lunch. Oh talking about my friends, I'm so glad that I make a lot of friends here, most of them are international students. Same as me. I have five close friends here. They are all from different places. Hi jess. Oh, hi Shannon. She's one of my best friends. Most of the time we spend our time together to the assignment, hang out a Simon and repeat. They are all very kind and supportive. I am really proud to call them as my support system. In Melbourne. Now, talking about Melbourne City who doesn't love this city. Well, I'm not trying to accelerate. But everything that you dream and one for a place to live is here. I love the ambiance of this city. I can find beautiful parts wherever I go. Which for me personally is enchanting. Especially when you couldn't find outdoor spaces as beautiful as in Melbourne in your home country. I like to spend my time alone in the park just to relax myself a bit. The local people here are very friendly and open to the foreigners. I have one experience with this. Since I always buy a coffee in the morning at queen victoria market. So there is one local waiter that remember my name and my order. Oh my God. I think it's a lovely gesture of how open minded the local people are. Speaking of coffee as a coffee lover. I approve that Melbourne has fantastic coffee shops. You can literally find a good coffee anywhere anytime in Melbourne as well as the brunch foods. Mm hmm. Aside from how I adore and love the Melbourne city, I sometimes still feel homesick. There were times when I miss my family and friends so much. Well, I think it's normal to feel this way, especially when you're away from home. But thank God we live in the digital era. I have faced time routines with my family every weekend so we can catch up over things that already happened in that week. Besides Australia and Indonesia are actually not that far in the distance. My family can come to visit me. Um Probably once or twice every six months or the other way around. I can still go back when I have a semester break. Continuing my study in Melbourne has been one of the best and brave decision I've ever made. I believe that I get to work hard and be fearless to reach whatever I want in my life. My dreams are the essential things that keep me going. And I thank God that I always have full support from my family and friends. Next semester I'll do an internship subject in my dream company in Melbourne. Yeah, fingers crossed that Sometimes I stop amongst all the chaos and look how far I've come to be closer to my dreams just to see how I should be grateful to God to be given in such wonderful chances. So, if I can do it. So do you. He just needs to work harder. Take chances and be fearless. Time is ticking. If you have a trip, go and make it happen. That's this week's episode of The Master talks a podcast about stories of inspiration and insights. Don't forget to join us next week for another episode. Thank you for listening.
