This is the story of a small planet in space called Earth. Today it has marty oceans, scorched deserts and frozen wilderness. It supports a multitude of diverse creatures and is home to more than six billion people and their technological civilization. But how did this all come about? Where do we come from? Until recently, Earth in his life forms were a mystery, like a huge, unpainted canvas. Little was known about the origin of Earth and its inhabitants. But today we have a rough idea of what happened. It began with a bang. Once upon a time, the king's youngest son became filled with the desire to go abroad and see the world. He got his father's permission toe leave on an adventure, kissed his parents goodbye, mounted his black horse and galloped away down the high road. Soon great towers of the old castle in which he had been born disappeared behind him.
