Description

This was a voiceover for an environmental documentary I did for DStv (pan-African broadcaster) about a remote tribe called the Pondo, whose land was under threat by an international mining consortium. I wanted to convey sincerity, authenticity, believability and engage the audience. I also wrote the voice-over script. It's a bit of a blur between Received Pronunciation and South African in terms of accent.

ponder Land is called one of Africa's last standing stones in the northeast corner of the Eastern Cape in South Africa. It has retained its original culture and traditions and, most remarkably, ancestral land ownership has remained in the hands of the Ama Pongo. Despite both colonialism and party, it is Africa's second richest biodiversity region. Offshore lies the Wonderland MP, a stretching 90 kilometres between Zambia and norms and rules. Legend has it that the dunes in Kobani are red because of the blood spilled by the pond. Our ancestors who died protecting their land because of these jeunes ponder blood, continues to be spilled. They contain over 35 million tonnes of mineral, including one of the world's richest reserves of titanium.
