it's my third day at my new job as head vet at a clinic in Georgia. I'm still settling in not only to the job but living in the south born and bred in hawaii, I left for college in new york and took a residency at the veterinary hospital. I interned at, through school for a few years before I heard about this position through the grapevine. All my colleagues thought I was crazy for leaving the hustle and bustle of new york city to come to Georgia, but I wanted to work with livestock. So here I am, this is my gateway. Sure I'm still seeing mostly house pets, but if I build up a good reputation, hopefully word of mouth will reach the farmers and they'll inquire about my services. I arrived a week early to get my apartment squared away and get a lay of the land. The town is small and a complete opposite setting to new york city and just about every way. But the chill and slow pace reminds me of my home island, which is the exact opposite of what I want when it comes to my work. The first two days at the clinic are relaxed and everyone introduces themselves and the visits are pretty mild. A cat that got its tail caught in the screen door and needed the tip, amputated a few puppies that needed shots and other run of the mill health checks. But this weekend there's a free spay and neuter event and I know it's bound to kick things up a notch. This event was a yearly thing. The previous vet was an advocate of and so am I. So I'm pretty geeked to have walked into something I'm gung ho on. This is also the pace and style. I enjoy a packed schedule and seeing as many animals as I can while also giving quality care. Everyone at the clinic has been cool and I felt welcomed instantly. The doctor before me retired, so everyone was concerned about a new younger doctor coming in and changing what they were used to fortunately there's a lot of younger staff and volunteers who can keep up with me so far. I've gotten nothing but comments of relief and excitement to see what can come from me being there. I've also already been offered to be set up with daughters, sisters and a few best friends. None of that really interests me. I'm focused on my career and not necessarily inclined to settle down just yet. I'm not opposed to dating. However, I don't have the time, although I wouldn't be against someone I could hook up with work stresses me out and a way to relieve that stress is sex. I've had a few girlfriends and attempts at just fun buddies, but unfortunately all of those have not been the best experiences for me
