The story goes that Sir Christopher Wren, the great English architect was touring the construction grounds of his latest work Saint Paul's Cathedral in London, England. Renn often visited the site to oversee the work. He would ask various laborers and artisans about their task that could include carpenters, he or shaping wooden beams or glass workers handling the incredible stained glass windows. One day, Ren happened upon an old man mixing cement as was his custom. Ren asked, what are you doing? Sir? The man without knowing he was speaking to the lead architect said proudly and without hesitation, what am I doing? Why sir, I'm building a great cathedral. The man didn't view his work as a meaningless task of mixing mortar. He saw the larger vision of his labor and the beautiful church being built and he was delighted to be a part of it. All of us have the same opportunity to be a part of something important. We just have to start looking at the needs around us and begin the task of becoming doers that work then becomes something more, it becomes our mission. So ask yourself and consider the question for this inquiry. What can you do to make a difference?
