By 18 72 the Casio gold rush was in full swing with thousands of gold seekers coming to the area in search of riches. Since then, over 150 years of both plaster and hard rock mining has taken place in the district from a patchwork of operators, and it wasn't until the late 2000s that the entire region was consolidated into one single district scale land package.
