If emotional intelligence needed a definition, it would be the ability to be aware of, regulate and express emotions as well as the ability to handle interpersonal relationships with empathy, compassion and fairness. There are two key parts of emotional intelligence the ability to recognize, understand and regulate your own emotions, and the ability to recognize, understand and influence the emotions of those around you, practically speaking. This means that an emotionally intelligent individual is able to understand how their own emotions influence themselves and others, and that individual is able to manage those emotions in order to get better control over him or herself.
