Reagan Drake something wicked. So it was on that cold, rainy evening in early March. Nearly 10 months ago, I found myself at my desk staring at my computer screen, unmoving for the better part of an hour. I sat staring, stewing and searching another regions of my brain, to no avail. I had been there before, devoid of ideas, waiting for inspiration and finding none. I was attempting to hearken back to my old true style of writing. Cynical, sarcastic and somewhat derisive. That was the way I'd written in high school and college and then later for a local television station. But, alas, it was not to be. I had so many ideas brewing and brimming of late, but now that I had finally given in and agreed to put them to page, they abandoned me like smoke from a fire again. Then I began to read. I read only the top four authors. I saw no point in deluding the waters with lesser work. I read this rubbish day in and day out, as though I was reading ransom notes for my abducted child when I could stand it no more. When I felt I had the grasp of it. I dove headlong into the mirage that is romantic literature. I swam in false streams of consciousness and pretense. I tarried in shallow waters of absurdity, suspended on Lee by my own desire to conquer it. The more I wrote, the more the pages seem to right themselves. When I did sleep, I had vivid dreams about my computer keyboard taking over while I read Chaucer and drank elderberry wine. It was almost as if I was distancing myself from my own work. Still wounded from my night of self loathing, I made my way downstairs through the lobby, out the main door and over to my favorite coffee shop around the corner, not Starbucks. While standing in line, I glanced up my phone for my email messages. I have two email accounts. One is for my pen name, Page Turner, and one is a private one that I rarely give out but use for shopping, paying bills, etcetera,
