gravity seems to be strong Today My head and limbs are being pulled towards the earth Each step a stumble My lips set in a downward carved my burrows pulled down shielding my eyes from the light I bend to take in the clean warm sent off the single white rose I'm holding My every pore is swamped with the smell of you Touch the petals silky velvet like your skin tightly curled like your tiny fingers waiting to grasp the air on the life around You exploring filling your senses With all that this world can offer you My fingers stroke the green samples open, letting the flower emerge yet staying around the bud Ready to support Protect I know they did that for you precious child. Your mom, your dad You bloomed under their care Your petals like this rose white tinges of green and yellow, blue and grey All your talents emerging Being nurtured Each year that past rocked a new layer I watched hidden, standing paralysed and she sang your first solo at school My chin held high The ache in my heart eased by the beauty of the sounds Your school reports the told me spoke of your bright intelligence and caring nature secretly, I choose my legacy and write beautiful words that the world could share. But you had other ideas and talents and you were right. Your music touches hearts. It was your quest to follow your music that took you away. A stupid accident. Leaving your mom and dad heartbroken. I watched them. The body's curled inwards, clasping each other's hands tightly, staring blankly ahead. Faces numbed snails reacting to salt, curling into their shells. You never knew me the crushing despair, anger and grief. I felt that the cost we had to pay for you dissolved when I gazed in all that your perfection a fierce need to give you everything. Drove my decision. No going back, No regrets. I knew that they would give you everything I could not. And so here I am, my lovely boy. Your father. Although I know I have no right home myself. I gave you. I ****** myself. Pities feel smell 98 etched in for a place to soothe
