HBO's Game of Thrones was no less than a cultural phenomenon. But despite its immense popularity the finale divided fans with the imminent launch of the highly anticipated prequel House of the Dragon. We needed to bring back the hype and re engage fans with Westeros. To accomplish this our campaign took a multi pronged approach leaking key concept art to get fans excited putting the iron throne in Ella's natural history museum and undertaking an intricate social media push. But since the return of Westeros needed to be an unmissable cultural event we also utilized an untapped but highly lucrative space E. Sports among viewers of the number one most watched sport in north America. The League of Legends League Championship series 78% have a positive impression of game of Thrones not to mention an affinity for dragons. So with a massive audience celebrating L. C. S. 10th anniversary we partnered with Riot Games to Make House of the Dragon their first ever in game sponsor. Alongside the global launch of the series trailer. The sponsorship featured exclusive in game content, branded interfaces, lower thirds and banners. ADR Dragon skull on the fan mile and cast member appearances during the finals. To top it off we introduced a new game objective. The dragon soul that represented a unique connection between each secured dragon. The first ever dragon entitlement in Championship history fans everywhere were vocal about their love for House of the Dragon on social media and our efforts trans into extraordinary results. Nearly 100 million impressions globally. We reached 26,000 event attendees and over 400,000 online viewers, generating over three million in media value and securing a heroic victory for HBO max, Westeros was back and better than ever, preparing the world for the return of the iron throne.
