the purpose of part one of this work was to explain the character and tendencies of the Constitution of Northern Ireland by recording the course of events both before and shortly after the passing of the Government of Ireland Act of 1920 the steps by of which the constitution was brought into operation in its current existing form and a matter of its working in the initial years. The present volume sets forth with annotations the actual text of the constitutional enactments, namely the Act of 1920 the Irish Free State Agreement Act of 1922 the Irish Free State Consequential Provisions Act of 1922 the Ireland Confirmation of Agreement Act of 1925 and the Northern Ireland Miscellaneous Provisions Act of 1928 and 1932. The enactments amending the Act of 1920 are by no means of minor importance. In particular, the statutes of 1922 in 1925 should be carefully studied as they accomplished the transition from the original project contained in the Act of 1922 the Constitution of Northern Ireland. As it exists today, this transition has been picture actually described in the following words, The political architects plan to wings our northern and southern, upon which they meant to balance of central features to lend prospective unity to the design. Two years later, the southern one was cut away, bringing down with it the central structure.
