Welcome to the Protection of Personal Information Act E Learning course. Please click start to begin the course. What is the purpose of data protection in any company? Sharing data has become necessary when performing everyday tasks and engaging with clients. Sharing data has its benefits, but it is not without risk. What does this mean? Personal information reveals a great deal about a person or company and therefore can be easily be exploited to harm or compromise the privacy of the person to whom the personal information relates. Therefore, key pieces of personal information that is commonly processed while executing everyday tasks such as employee records, customer details, transactions or data collection require protection. Data protection also provides clients with the ability to specify whether or not to consent to the sharing of personal information while protecting their rights, to know who has access to their personal information for what period and for what purpose. To modify parts of this information and more. Hi, my name is Alison. I have been a managing editor at a textbook publishing company for 15 years. My daily duties include receiving, processing and archiving author contracts. These contracts not only contain personal information regarding the authors but also sensitive information such as royalty shares and bank details. I believe the best place to keep these documents is at my desk, in my desk drawer and on the X drive where my immediate team and I can easily access these documents.
