This includes aspects such as self knowledge, confident feeling valued and accepted by others, the ability to express views and an ability to relate to others. Self concept is our perception or image of our abilities and our uniqueness. At first, one self concept is general and changeable. As we grow older, these self perceptions become much more organised, detailed and specific. A concept or a self concept is a collection of beliefs about one's own nature, unique qualities and typical behaviour. Your self concept is your mental picture of yourself. It is a collection of self perceptions. For example, a self concept might include such beliefs as I am easy going, I am pretty or I am hardworking. The individual self consists of attributes and personality traits that differentiate us from other individuals. For example, if you are introverted or if you are extroverted, the relational self is defined by our relationships with significant others. For example, our sisters, finally, the collective self reflects our membership and social groups. Example. These are people who have low self esteem, which is why they constantly seek approval from the people around them in order to feel good about themselves.
