I am a budding actor with a background in theater beginning my studies in the field at Sheridan College. I am new to voice acting, but I have always had a great interest in it and look forward to bringing my skills from the stage to a new medium.
I have five years of experience creating voices to fit a wide variety of characters. As Garcin in Jean Paul Sartre's No Exit, I crafted a layered and changing voice to communicate a complex character who was rarely honest about his internal life. I expressed nuanced feelings and thoughts through tone of voice that sometimes contradicted the actual words being said. Garcin's mental state deteriorates over the course of the play and my voice evolved to match his instability.
In addition to Garcin, I've played several other characters, including two leads. James M. Barrie was a master playwright who oscillated between a confident narrator of stories and a shy, traumatized man whose voice was strained, hesitant, and awkward in interpersonal relationships. Baruch de Spinoza was a Jewish philosopher from the 1600s whose accent and vocal intonation required research and training with contemporary Hebrew speakers. It was a culturally sensitive role that required consultation with a generous rabbi from a local Chabad house and—in addition to communicating Spinoza's naive and excitable character—using specific Hebrew sounds that don't exist in English.
I also have a musical background, having been a part of choirs and musicals. I approach all projects with enthusiasm and lots of jokes.
