I've been doing voiceover since 2003. Here's what you can expect working with me:
I'll take direction well, have a happy can-do attitude, and be in and out of the studio quickly.
You'll be left with a good feeling and a great read. Your client will relax. And your boss will praise your knack for casting.
So. What style are you looking for?
Often you want a refreshing and believable "Girl Next Door." She is real and down to earth. She's warm and natural, possibly innocent and young, which makes her approachable and trustworthy. She may be All American, midwest, or a little country.
On the other hand, you may need the "Wry Hipster". Stylish and trendy, hip and cool, she is often a young urban intellectual. She prides herself on being authentic and genuine and is often casual and funny. She's a little philosophical and aloof, and often sarcastic and witty.
Need a "Best Girlfriend"? She is trustworthy and sincere, definitely real. Her tone is natural, warm and conversational. She is a close friend and trusted advisor.
Or perhaps a classic "Party Girl". She is hip and fun, sexy and flirtatious. She can be a little loud and wild and is definitely energetic and upbeat.
Sometimes you need a "Soccer Mom". She is real and comforting and nurturing by nature. She's smart and confident and shares her opinion with a direct, no nonsense attitude. She can be gentle and soothing, and warm and kind.
There are times you want the "Confident Expert" for her proper pronunciation and clear enunciation. She's comfortable with medical science terms and technical jargon. She is authoritative and believable, and informative and direct.
Who better for a professional presentation than the successful "Corporate Executive"? She is intelligent and articulate as well as knowledgeable and confident. She's powerful and smart, with a voice that's smooth and polished.
Always in the know is the dynamic "Young Professional". She is current and well educated. Whether Generation X or Gen Y she is clever and cool, she's relevant and smart.
For the children's book character who's mean and scary, we have the "Cold-hearted Villain". She is frightening and wicked. She is intimidating and powerful and dark.
Some reads call for the truly elegant lady, a "Sophisticated Socialite". European royalty or American blue blood, she is cultured and refined, classy and smart. She is engaging and polite, well mannered and well educated. Probably rich, maybe a snob, she's opinionated and full of attitude.
