Lucinda’s first foray into voice-over was at the age of nine when she recorded “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe (complete with sound effects) on her brand new reel-to-reel tape recorder.
Her life-long ambition has been acting, whether on stage, on screen, or behind the microphone.
She graduated in 1980 from Carnegie-Mellon University with a BFA in Drama (Acting Emphasis). She has spent the past 35 years gracing stages in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York and her current home of North Carolina. She has shown a special affinity for classical works, particularly those of Shakespeare and has just completed the Month-Long Intensive at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox Massachusettes.
The recent advances in technology have allowed her to return to the world of voice-over. Her familiarity with Shakespeare’s use of rhetoric has given her the tools to interpret and promote the structures used in commercial copy. In addition, the quality of her voice (and her experience as a mom) create a feeling of warmth and safety in her listeners. She has been heard in commercials, documentaries, museums, public service announcements, eLearning, and numerous audiobooks.
