About Christopher Payne

Overview

My baritone to bass range is well suited for announcer/radio broadcaster style. It can be very showy and over the top, or calm and conversational. My educational background in biology, chemistry, and physics, has built my scientific and technical vocabulary, ideal for educational and explainer type narration. My voice in general has a warm and friendly tone but impersonations and impressions have given me a good feel for a wide range of character work. I have several years of choral and other musical training which has given me proper air support and diaphragm control, helping me to maintain specific styles for entire sessions.

I Started Voice Over work after encouragement from friends, comments about my voice from strangers, and a childhood full of doing impressions and accents. Voices.com was recommended to me by a professional Voice Over / Voice Actor friend.

Testimonials

We had Christopher Payne voice a character in an animated short that will accompany a pilot we are producing for an independent five season animated series. We liked Chris’ performance and work ethic so much that we expanded the part of his character in the series. He showed enthusiasm, creativity, and took direction well. Most importantly, he adapted very quickly to the needs of the role and inhabited the character. Chris is easy to work with, and got back to us promptly on script rewrites. He also took the initiative and included variations on lines, some of which we ended up using as they fit the character. The overall impression we got from Chris is that of a professional who genuinely enjoys what he does. We’re looking forward to working with him on the upcoming pilot and throughout the rest of the series.
