I'm Steve Gray. I'm a Voice Artist, Narrator, as well as Audio Book Producer. I first became interested in this form of artistry when I first heard the majestic voice of E.G. Marshal, when he'd host the CBS Radio Mystery Theater several years ago. The Narration work of James Coburn in a short lived Horror/ Sci-Fi Television Show, "The Darkroom", in 1982 also captivated my fascination. Hearing these talented and mystifying voices, and the way they used voice and storytelling much like paint and canvas, made me realize that I had to follow the same path.

I practiced alone doing several readings and recordings of assorted stories to condition myself vocally. I taught myself that charactization and emphasis on dialogue was paramount as the visual aspect of a told or acted story was absent.

I read and recorded the likes of H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Charles Dickens, Bram Stoker, and Stephen King. Some of those recordings still exist somewhere on worn cassette tapes or as rogue MP3s on the internet probably. The practice was, and still is well worth it.
My objective is to continue to do what gives me great enjoyment. When I perform Voice Acting, the goal is to envelop myself with the overall atmospere and make up of the Character and "become" whom, or what I am portraying.
For Narration, the same rule applies, as well as to dig deeper into the ambience of the story to convey that to the listener. To make them visualize things like time frames, area descriptions, personal illustration, and to perform the tension, action, and emotion, of the story.
For Audio Book Production, My level of quality is just as important as any task I've mentioned previously. Whether I'm editing and producing a work that I've narrated myself, or works that others have trusted me to edit and produce, My professionalism ranks among the best in the industry.
