Since she was a little girl, Barbara J. has been passionate about acting and voices. Born in Costa Rica, Barbaras mentor was Victor Manuel Espinoza, the new voice of Homer Simpson in Spanish. Victor taught her various voice-over techniques and styles; and soon Barbara earned wide acclaim within the Voice Industry in her native country, recording for national radio on a regular basis, as well as for television commercials all over Central America. Barbaras South American clients included companies such as Verizon, Mattel, Kotex, Enersol, Nabisco, and many more. Barbara moved to New York City to pursue her acting career attending courses at the prestigious HB Studio and undergoing private instruction with Brian Loxley. Shortly thereafter, agents began booking her for television and radio commercials for such companies as McDonalds, MTV, Six Flags, NY Lottery, Planet Parenthood, Fifth Third Bank, and many more. Barbaras experience and versatile Spanish voice-over skill allow her to tailor her voice to the project at hand. For example, she can sound warm, sexy, smooth, older, and even childlike. With a soft, natural Spanish accent, Barbara is able to perform narrations, voice prompts, on hold messages, and many other vocal effects. With her acting background as a foundation, Barbara can also deliver character voices as well as appealing animal sounds.
